ARTIST ROOMS On Tour with the Art Fund
ROBERT MAPPLETHORPE: The Scottish Tour
A selection of photographs by the celebrated American photographer, Robert Mapplethorpe is touring three
Scottish venues in 2012 as part of ARTIST ROOMS on Tour. Mapplethorpe has proven to be one of the most
provocative photographers of the 20th century; renowned for his magnificent, large scale black and white
photographs which have inspired artistic debate and intrigue.
Each tour venue has selected photographs from the ARTIST ROOMS collection to curate individual
exhibitions. These include studies of flowers, iconic self-portraits and portraits of many of the most influential
artists, writers and musicians of the period - including Andy Warhol, Truman Capote and Patti Smith.
Following a very successful exhibition at Dunoon Burgh Hall the tour transfers to:
THE GALLERY at LINLITHGOW BURGH HALLS
Friday 20 July - Sunday 28 October 2012
The gallery at Linlithgow Burgh Halls shows a continuous, changing programme of high quality solo shows,
touring exhibitions and new commissioned work. This exhibition will examine Mapplethorpe’s understanding
of form and light in the composition of formal portraits, still life and figurative works that celebrate the sensual
quality of nature and the human body.

Opening hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 9am-5pm; Tuesday and Thursday 9am - 9pm;

PERTH MUSEUM & ART GALLERY
Saturday 10 November 2012 - Saturday 27 April 2013
Perth Museum & Art Gallery will be the final venue for ARTIST ROOMS Robert Mapplethorpe. The works
chosen for this exhibition relate strongly to the museum’s permanent collection of fine art that includes
portraits from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, Dutch old master still lifes and studies of the nude and
human figure, a staple of western art dating back to the classical forms of Greek sculpture.
