PRESS RELEASE
APPLIED IMAGINATION
Group Exhibition
Alex J Wood, Cubed Form (detail), 2012, glazed ceramic
Private View │Tuesday 25th September │6 - 8.30pm
Exhibition dates: 24th – 29th September 2012
A group of 10 emergent artists present a vibrant show of contemporary work.
In his 2009 book ‘The Element’, Ken Robinson states that we are in our element when the
things we love to do and the things we are good at come together. He believes that in this
situation, something fundamental about who we really are and what we are meant to be doing
with our lives is revealed to us.
Creativity takes the process of imagination to another level and as such is described by him as
Applied Imagination. It is our capacity for creativity that allows us to find our way to the element
and for the artists participating in this exhibition, to be in their element is to pursue their
individual artistic preoccupations.
Applied Imagination is a group exhibition that illustrates a common aptitude and passion for art,
whilst also presenting ten distinct and individual art practices.
