JIQ JAQ Contemporary Art is pleased to present ‘Magic in the Air and Other Imaginings’ a solo

exhibition of original pigment prints by Marilyn Koan.

Please join us on Thursday August 30th 2012 from 6 – 8pm for the private view and to meet the

artist. The exhibition is accompanied by an inventive volume of poetry and writings: ‘The Cat is

Pursing his Lips Again and Other Oddities’, written and illustrated by Marilyn Koan, the presentation

of which will coincide with the private view and with several special events JIQ JAQ Contemporary

Art will be hosting, such as a reading and a talk by the artist.

In this unique exhibition Marilyn allows us to venture into her poetic and imaginative way of

thinking. Each picture is an intense rendering of some deeply felt paradoxical situation or state of

mind: portraits, fantastical landscapes, sojourns into literature, poetry and humour - the whole

suggestive of her personal visualisations, with historical, cinematic, religious or poetic references.

Humour and sensitivity being her constant companions, we cannot fail to be moved by her

interpretations.

Marilyn Koan was born in London into an Eastern European family. She lives and works in France.

She exhibited her unusual photography notably at The Forum in Nice in 2000 and at La Caisse

d’Epargne in Toulon in 2001.

A series of her prints has been exhibited this year at Espace Associations in Nice and at La Maison du

Judaïsime Elie Wiesel.
