Martinswithin a year of retiring and after doing some consultancy work was
very exciting. One of its biggest benefits, the art works being shown in a home
environment, was also a limiting factor.
The Chapel Arts allows us to do so much more hence the change of title, and the way the
building has responded to very flexible development means the space will be able to be
used in very different ways. At the same time this will enable many more people to be
exposed to the artwork, and from our point of view encourage us to widen our horizons
significantly.
We have featured a number of Royal Academicians in the past but almost exclusively
painters. This show unashamedly majors on printers, but most artists have inevitably in
their careers used almost every type of media at some time and the twelve that we are
showing are no exception.
Almost all I have met for the first time in putting this exhibition together. They are almost all
younger than I am, some very much younger.
The work is very diverse and its breadth provides a superb opportunity to christen the
chapel in its new and exciting interior.
We hope you will enjoy the contents and their environment.
The Chapel Arts is formally Martin
Ends.
