PRESS RELEASE
December 2016
Sevenoaks Gallery proudly exhibiting works by Simon Bergin, January to February 2017
Grierson Galleries of Sevenoaks, Kent is delighted to be exhibiting the astonishing work of Simon Bergin.
Figure and Landscape Paintings and Works on Paper will be showing at the historic venue from January
31 to February 18 2017 with the Private View on February 2.
Born and educated in London, Simon Bergin has lived in Kent for the last ten years and despite his city
background, Kent life and rural French life have inspired his distinctly non-urban subject matter. Simon
works in oil on board and canvas, as well as mixed media on paper, often incorporating as many as six
different media in his works on paper which give them a richness and depth which reaches far beyond
their relatively small scale.
The figure and landscape are his main sources of inspiration, and he often combines the two by placing
his figures in landscapes and seascapes as well as interiors, and painting landscapes in their own right.
Grierson Galleries, known for its diverse and fascinating mix of artists and art, is proud to be working
with Simon and Galleries Magazine to promote the work of this talented artist.
Founder of Grierson Galleries Annie Watsham commented, ‘The Gallery is very proud of its artists and
exhibitions and being housed on the ground floor of a beautiful 18th century house on Austen Drive in
the heart of Sevenoaks town centre is proud to have associations with Jane Austen’s family. We are
keen to support local artists as well as those from abroad. It’s all about the quality of the works. We aim
to offer quality in a beautiful and peaceful space where creativity blossoms.’
The Gallery is very much looking forward to Simon Bergin’s exhibition. Please visit – you’re very
welcome!
