PRESS RELEASE
Peter Kent
Painter, draughtsman, chronicler, river watcher, local institution: for over fifty years Peter Kent
from his riverside studio has drawn and painted the landmarks and the changes that make our
environment. He is particularly synonymous with the River Thames and Greenwich: where the
presence of history and the pace of change are the equal of anywhere in London.
Peter’s work is highly-prized and is in many collections. His spontaneity, vibrancy and formidable
technique have led him to be compared to Paul Hogarth and Hugh Casson, but he is very much
his own man: ‘Life is about people and places,’ he says, ‘and I happen to love both.’
This long-awaited retrospective is a fitting tribute to an artist who, at 83, is always looking
forward and is as productive as ever.
‘Peter Kent – a retrospective’ is the exhibition at The Greenwich Gallery on until January 30th
Opening hours Monday – Friday 9.30am – 5.30pm Weekends 12 - 4.00pm
