CONTEMPORARY ART FAIRS SURREY 15th- 17th March 2019

Sandown Racecourse, Esher

The quest for that perfect piece of art.

Following last year’s highly-successful and impressive inaugural event, Contemporary Art

Fairs Surrey is back at Sandown Park with a full weekend of over 160 curated artists and

galleries, live art demonstrations and workshops all in one place. Visitors can enjoy an

immersive weekend of Art, find exactly what they are looking for - and have a great time

doing it.

Over one weekend, you could enjoy the thrill of discovering a future star, or commission an

artist to create a unique piece for you; you could become part of an artist’s success or invest

in a piece of artwork and relish the status of a conversation piece; or, you could simply fall in

love, and go home with something that is a part of your story forever.

Come and enjoy the experience of buying real art, from real artists producing exceptional

work that looks great in your home and feels exciting to own”. Deborah James Fair Director

From established favourites, galleries, emerging stars, and selected new talent, both

national and European, the artists work in a range of media; from fine art to high-end

photography; from glass sculpture to lino print work; from textural abstract to traditional oil

landscapes, art lovers will find that ‘something perfect that brings a room together or

creates a focal point that brings a home alive.

“When you buy original art, it’s often an adventure. At our fairs you meet the artist in

person, hear their story of the artwork, and understand the feeling behind it. Because the

process of buying original artwork at our Contemporary Art Fairs is so different from buying

mass-produced consumer artwork, you can expect to have a great story to tell at the end of

it, these stories help create deeper personal connections between you and the artwork you

buy. Sarah McAllister, Director of Contemporary Art Fairs

More Than Just An Art Fair

From the opening Private View night, filled with wine and conversation, the weekend is a

buzz of inspiration.

Air Dry Clay Workshops with Watts Gallery

Visitors are invited to join in with a Watts Gallery tradition stretching back over 100 years

and meet the team from the Guildford-based gallery. They can roll up their sleeves and

have a go at working with terracotta clay to make their very own ceramic curiosity,

experiment with ceramic press moulds and find out more about the artists that began this

tradition. All ages are welcome.

Live Art Theatre

A programme of demonstrations, talks and activities by artists running over the weekend,

watch an artist take you through the process of creating a work of art, take part in a printing

workshop or listen to a talk.

Some artists will be demonstrating their skills at their stands, others in The Live Art Theatre.

Come and watch them turn a blank canvas into something quite remarkable while talking

you through their techniques and inspiration. The perfect way to appreciate the creative

process.

There is also an Art Quest with prizes for young visitors.

The famous Prince’s Trust collectables are unique, specially-produced, original mini works

donated by their community of artists and have raised over £70,000 for the Prince’s Trust.

Whether you know what you are looking for, or are browsing for inspiration, it is an

exceptional experience to see so much excellent choice in one place. With a winning mix of

truly great work, across a wide range of tastes and styles, an interactive art space and wine,

our fairs are a one-stop experience of really good, real art.
