life scenes in ink and pastels by Kivuthi Mbuno, and the stunning
Fauvist, Matisseesque pastels from Sekano
Also exhibiting at this event is Agorsor, a widely collected artist whose
work has colourful abstract themes and subtle touches.
AFRIKart grew out of passion and enthusiasm for contemporary African art.
"The idea for the business emerged from a series of management workshops run
in Ghana and through a chance encounter with a well-known Ghanaian painter,
Larry Otoo."
Since the creation of AFRIKart, Kwame Akuffo has been committed to bringing
to Europe and sharing great art from East and West Africa.
"We have a minimum of 150 original paintings in storage at any one time." Mr
Akuffo said.
Artists for this exhibition utilise a wide range of media, bringing local
aesthetics together with international artistic debates and practice.
Themes for Diverse Colours II filter the global exchange through local
channels, bringing local aesthetics to bear upon broader international
artistic debates and practices.
