Thoroughly grounded in the basic skills of painting and drawing, she makes those most difficult and testing of subjects, the human figure andstill-life, look deceptively simple and undemonstrative, as this handsome new show at Thompson's makes apparent, time andagain. But, don’t be taken in, this is figurative painting of the highest order, the drawing always firm and crisp, the touch subtle and ambiguous, the colour clear , precise andtender. What pleasures!
