While the Tate opens its major Peter Lanyon exhibition in St Ives on the 9th and Kestle Barton , near Helston, becomes home to a radical installation by Andrew (see p12) the Rainyday Gallery in Penzance is showing the work of second son Matthew whose large abstract paintings relate more directly to the explorations of place (be it on land or in the air) and the physical awareness of that space that concerned his father. Recent work by Matthew Lanyon continues until November 4. PP THUMB nails Matthew Lanyon ‘Wreck of the Bessemer City’ Rainyday Gallery
