Mon–Fri 10–5 or by appt andrew@andrewwyld.com www.andrewwyld.com t 020 7290 1540 f 020 7290 1549 In summer 2010, Dutch artist Erik van Lieshout opened a temporary ‘shop’ in Rotterdam’s Zuidplein mall. His resulting film, Commission , showing at Hayward Gallery ‘s Project Space until 27 February, documents van Lieshout, using his trademark faux-naïf persona, canvassing local views on community, consumerism and the rise of the Dutch Right Wing. Both humour and pathos abound, as he highlights his own failings (getting sidetracked trying to chat up a shop assistant) and also questions whether an artist can effect any real social change.
