Mon–Fri 10–5 or by appt andrew@andrewwyld.com www.andrewwyld.com t 020 7290 1540 f 020 7290 1549 Trained in traditional graphic design in Tehran in the early 90s, Golnaz Fathi’s subsequent career can be seen as a classic paradigm ofthe tensions between Eastern and Western cultures and attitudes. A woman practising traditionally male- dominated calligraphic art, she then made the bold decision to follow her artistic instincts and pursue more purely abstract interests. Introducing bold swathes ofcolour and pushing her marks well beyond the boundaries ofliteral sense, Fathi’s stunning pieces now speak powerfully to the unconscious mind instead, becoming part ofa notable contemporary East-West ‘conversation’.
