A dynamic figure in the northern arts scene – she ran the Peter Scott Gallery in Lancaster University for many years – Mary has put together a lively 2012 season that kicks off with a solo show, entitled 'Island Paintings and other works', by locally-based landscape painter Chris Rigby. Winner of First Prize in the 2011 Open Up North exhibition, Rigby has a passion for islands – the West Coast of Ireland and Shetland in particular – and paints them with enormous technical skill and a passionate sense of place.
