Dealers in essentially Old Master and 19th C. painting from Italy and France, they also mount regular shows by American Modernists like Julian Schnabel and mid-20th C. Italian Modernists. Their important current show by Agostino Bonalumi, a significant figure emerging from the post-war Italian scene around Enrico Baj, Lucio Fontana and Manzoni, is a fine example. Initially influenced by the arte povera tendency, Bonalumi soon established what he termed his estroflessione technique – essentially structural wire frames backing the canvas which created rich spatial forms on the coloured and delicately shadowed monochrome surfaces of his reliefs – that has shaped his career to date.
