GALLERIES @strarta 5 1 3 4 6 A new contemporary and modern fine art fair in London, Strarta starts with the huge advantage of a location to die for, the Saatchi Gallery on the King’s Road, with exhibiting galleries occupying stands within the spectacular main galleries themselves. With some 40 galleries fromthe UK and Europe taking part this year, the aimis to build it into one of the major events in the art world calendar. Here we illustrate what some of the participants plan to show. NU 2 artistic mark on Ucheldre’s walls from October 18 to November 1. Meanwhile ‘Printmakers in Wales’ continues until October 6. A co-operative gallery and information centre for North Wales potters, The Potters’ Gallery , Conwy, exhibits ceramics by twenty regional artists – from domestic ware to rare collectibles, one-off and limited edition pieces. Oriel Cymru Gallery , Pentrefelin (by appointment) shows contemporary artists who have worked in Wales including Keith Bowen, Huw Gareth Jones, Ceri Auckland Davies and Kyffin Williams. Meanwhile Keith Bowen has some 30 new paintings for his second solo show at Oriel Tegfryn , Menai Bridge – of Welsh mountains and streams, classical figures and portraits. Bowen‘s work has featured on two Royal Mail stamps and in two books. A landmark exhibition, ‘Drawn to the Light – Kyffin Williams and Venice’ continues at Oriel Ynys Môn , Llangefni, until February 2, with works by Williams as well as artists who inspired him including Monet, Walter Sickert, Canaletto and Guardi. ‘In Nature’s Presence’ at the Royal Cambrian Academy , Conwy, until October 19, aims to show the very best of Welsh art with David Woodford and 22 contemporaries from the Academy. Oriel Plas Glyn-y-Weddw , Llanbedrog, have work by Wil Rowlands, Therese Urbanska and Steven Jones until November 10. ‘Autumn Exhibition at Y Capel , Llangollen includes work by well-known and emerging Welsh artists. Ffin y Parc Gallery, Llanrwst, is showing new work by Sue Hunt and Kay Rees Davies, and abstract landscapes by Beth Fletcher.
