It could prove a somewhat dour approach, but Joseph brings a quiet intensity to everything – an exhilarating sense of wonder and particularity. If you are not familiar with her work, these two shows – large scale drawings and related smaller ones, entitled Common Grounds at Eagle and a complete survey of her printmaking, Imprint at New Hall Exhibition Gallery (in Murray Edwards College, Cambridge) make a fine place to start – she is hugely underrated.
