Something not lost on Jukhee Kwon, South Korean-born with an MA from Camberwell, whose astonishing sculptural pieces use a slicing and cutting technique to, very literally, deconstruct books into wonderful cascading waterfalls, flows and growths of printed paper – “Who would have thought a book had so much paper in it?” as Lady Macbeth might perhaps have remarked. More serious is the way in which Kwon gives these often abandoned and disused books a new life, one that, albeit in a very different way to a book, gives free rein to the imagination to play and to dream.
