Until Sep 8. Mixed constantly changing show of work by more than Andrew Miller ‘Burgh Island’ The Brownston Gallery (see listing on map 1) As a prize sponsor for the National Original Print Exhibition 2017 at B ankside Gallery – an open submission competition organised by the Royal Society of Painter- Printmakers, I chose Rossen Daskalov’s ‘Rigging Echo with Silence’ (see left) as it simply stood out: a powerful narrative image enhanced graphically by its dense tones and handling of light. With no criteria for selection and without prior knowledge of the artist’s work, it was subsequently gratifying to discover that Rossen Daskalov has garnered a number of accolades for his work; trained at Central Saint Martins, he was ‘drawing year student’ at the Royal Drawing School (where he now teaches etching), he has been selected for the BP Portrait Award and the Jerwood Drawing Prize and more. He is currently exhibiting with Tara Versey at Mercer Chance. PH THUMB nail Rossen Daskalov ‘Rigging Echo with Silence’
