For starters the third of the Cheltenham- based fairs this April coming has attracted some 80 per cent of returning exhibitors, mostly UK galleries, along with an additional 12 new exhibitors bringing the total present to 51. And on the strength of Cheltenham’s success, this year sees a brand new Fresh coming to Ascot in September. As with Cheltenham, some 50 galleries are expected to sign up, bringing with them an estimated 5000 artworks – original prints, paintings and sculptures. The art fair package is completed with cafes, talks and artist demonstrations. It’s no coincidence that both fairs are sited on famous racecourses although this has little to do with horses and all to do with the unlimited free parking and motorway access that such spacious venues afford.
